Q: What is a Like Kind and Quality, or LKQ, part?

A: This term typically refers to a “used” part. Insurance companies may calculate LKQ parts on your vehicle if it is at least two years old or more. Our requirement for “used” parts is that they must be at least as good, if not better, than the one that was on your vehicle before the accident. In the event we are unable to source an LKQ part, we will contact your insurance company to pay for OEM parts.

Q: What is a quality replacement, or aftermarket, part?

A: Quality replacement parts and aftermarket parts are parts made by a company other than you vehicle’s manufacturer. We only use these parts if they fit properly and are manufactured to be as safe as OEM counterparts are. In the event the QRP or aftermarket parts are not up to our standards for vehicle collision repair, we will contact your insurance company to pay for OEM parts.

Q: If my car is leased, do I have to let the lease company know my vehicle has been in a collision?

A: You are responsible for the condition of your leased vehicle. When your lease is up and you turn in your vehicle, the lease company will do an independent appraisal of the condition of your vehicle. Other than normal wear, if they find body damage, counterfeit parts, or improper repairs, you will be assessed at that time for the cost of repairing the damage.

Q: Can I wash my car?

A: Washing your car is fine – in fact, we recommend it. Just don’t wax any freshly painted panels for six to eight weeks. This is how long it takes for the paint to finish curing. You should also avoid using car covers or anything else that can seal off the paint and prevent it from breathing.

We suggest you wash your car in a shady location with a mild soap and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse your cloth or sponge frequently, as the first it picks up could scratch your paint. If you prefer to take your car to an automated wash, we recommend you visit washes that offer “soft cloth washes.”
